There is an interesting history to the Cambodia gambling dens that sit just over the border from nearby Thailand, where gambling den betting is prohibited. Eight casinos are based in a relatively tiny location in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This collection of Cambodia gambling dens is in a prime area, a three to four hour drive from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 biggest gaming locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling halls do a thriving business with Thai workers and guests from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a few Westerners. The amazing capital accrued from the casinos ranges from seven and a half million dollars to more than 12.5 million, and there are a few controls requirements for gambling hall ownership. Ownership is presumed to be largely Thai; still, funding sources are vague. The borders are ceremoniously open from 0900 to 1700, and despite the fact visas are supposedly necessary to pass, there are ways around this, as is accurate of many borders.
The original Cambodia gambling halls premiered in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were required to close in the late nineties, leaving only one casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a stationary barge gambling hall, features 150 slots and sixty tables. The Naga casino never closes with forty two tables of mini-punto banco, 4 tables of blackjack, 10 of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and a single table each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The first gambling den in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in 1999 and the Golden Crown soon opened. There are 150 slot machine games and five table games at the Golden Crown and 104 slots and sixty eight gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights three hundred one armed bandits and seventy tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slot machines and ninety six table games, including eighty seven baccarat chemin de fer (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slot machines and 66 of the common gaming tables, as well as a single table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the 8 gambling halls in Poipet, also in a hotel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slot machine games and ninety seven casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in an all-inclusive resort and hotel complex that features numerous luxuries aside from the gambling den, which offers ten thousand sq.ft. of 130 slot machines and eighty eight table games.
